ECS Update: Due to a power outage, Ellsworth Community School will be closed today, Friday, September 21.
Elementary students have been enjoying the “trail” of fun shapes and patterns that was painted on the cafeteria floor this summer. Thanks to Mr. Cary for all the hard work painting it. The kids are loving it.
Today middle and high school students met in their “houses” for the first time this year. The goal of house time is to build smaller communities of students within the school to come together to work on teamwork and common projects.
Mrs. Goslee's MS Technology class is learning how to build and program using Lego EV3 Mindstorms kits. They are getting a lot of opportunities to work on their problem solving skills as they test their robots.
Kindergarten students have been with on an interactive writing project.
First graders have been having fun observing the life cycle of butterflies, including releasing them when they emerge from their chrysalis.
The ECS Agriscience class has been supplying the kitchen with fresh tomatoes. Yum!
Students in U.S. History gathered natural materials in order to make miniature models of various Native American housing structures.
Congratulations to the ECS Volleyball team on their victory over Boyne Falls tonight.
Yesterday the 4th grade class took a field trip to Flywheelers in Boyne Falls. Thanks to Mr. Barry and Mrs. Pletcher for taking the students.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the ECS House on the Hill home Cross Country Invitational this morning. The event was a huge success. ECS boys finished first and the girls placed second. A big thanks to Kirk Ikens for running the meet and AD Stevie Murray for keeping everything organized.
Make plans to have breakfast with ECS at the Washington, DC pancake breakfast fundraiser at the elementary school Saturday morning from 7-11, then head over to the Ellsworth Sports Park for the House on the Hill Cross Country invitational starting at 10:30.
