
Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Ariana Naomi Mignon Koons
Ariana Naomi Mignon Koons is a reflective member of the class of 2025. Most days you’ll find Ariana working, hanging out with friends, writing, reading, or simply relaxing with her phone—quiet pastimes that let her recharge and stay connected.
One of Ariana’s favorite high‑school memories came during Lancer Leap at the end of junior year, when she and Haylie capped off a kayaking trip by leaping straight into the lake. The spontaneous splash, shared laughter, and perfect summer weather turned an ordinary day into a standout moment.
While Ariana’s school involvement has been selective, she made a meaningful impact by helping with the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser and taking the stage in the Lancer Leap production “I Want My MTV,” where she sang lead vocals alongside Avrey. These experiences let her step out of her comfort zone and celebrate school spirit.
Ariana’s favorite class is Agriscience, a course that feeds her curiosity about the natural world and keeps learning hands‑on and engaging.
After graduation, Ariana will attend Kirtland Community College this fall to begin the next chapter of her education.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Lillie Ann Brusse
Lillie Ann Brusse, daughter of Annette Hyde and Paul Brusse, is a spirited member of the class of 2025. In her free time, Lillie enjoys perfecting nail designs and making quick runs to Subway with friends.
One of Lillie’s favorite high‑school memories is the Washington, D.C. trip, where the sights, laughter, and shared adventures created lasting friendships. This year, she has focused her energies on Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG), a program that builds leadership and career‑readiness skills.
Lillie’s favorite class is Agriscience, thanks to Mrs. Potter, who keeps lessons engaging, fair, and respectful of students’ lives outside school. She is especially proud of maintaining A and B grades during her senior year while holding a job and pursuing her interests.
After graduation, Lillie plans to attend cosmetology school and begin working in the beauty industry.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Julia Elizabeth Lane Sundstrom
Julia Elizabeth Lane Sundstrom, daughter of Molly and Jacob Sundstrom, is an adventurous member of the class of 2025. Her passions include horseback riding, showing cattle, and hunting—activities that keep her connected to the outdoors and her agricultural roots.
One of Julia’s favorite high school memories is working in Tech Apps with Mrs. V, where creativity and camaraderie made every class period memorable. Throughout her time at ECS, Julia has been an active leader and teammate in SAFE, YAC, Student Council, Quiz Bowl, softball, volleyball, and FFA.
Julia’s favorite subject is Agriscience (AG), where she loves diving into the world of plants and animals and enjoys the privilege of being part of FFA. Maintaining strong grades alongside her busy schedule is an accomplishment she holds with pride.
After graduation, Julia will head to basic training for the National Guard, complete her MOS school, and then enroll at Ferris State University in the spring to begin a degree in Dental Hygiene.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Oliver Jude Michanowicz
Oliver Jude Michanowicz, son of James and Stacey Michanowicz, is a thoughtful member of the Class of 2025. In his free time, Oliver enjoys playing games and occasionally heading out for airsoft matches. A favorite high school memory was the Washington, D.C. trip, where he had the chance to explore history with his classmates.
A quiet presence in the classroom, Oliver expresses himself best through his creativity—especially in graphics, where he enjoys the freedom to design and bring his ideas to life. He’s also a dedicated member of the Quiz Bowl team. One of his proudest achievements from high school is earning his driver’s license—a milestone that represents his growing independence.
After graduation, Oliver plans to attend college and continue building toward a bright future.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Isabella Mae Essenberg
Isabella Mae Essenberg, daughter of Dutch and Sarah Essenberg, is a vibrant and well-rounded member of the Class of 2025. Her hobbies reflect her love of both the outdoors and creativity—she enjoys mountain biking, running, tubing, watercolor painting, reading, playing pickleball and softball, and spending time with friends, family, and her faith. One of her favorite high school memories was performing We Built This City with Julia and Hannah during the Lancer Leap showcase.
Isabella is a three-sport athlete, competing in softball, volleyball, and basketball. She’s also an active leader in organizations such as Quiz Bowl, S.A.F.E., Big Buddies, Y.A.C., Student Council, and Class Committee. Her favorite subject is English, where she appreciates the chance to be creative and expressive—thanks to Mrs. Terryberry’s encouragement and support. Among her many accomplishments, she’s most proud of helping her basketball team win the Northern Lakes Conference for the first time since 2012, alongside what she calls “the most supportive team” she’s ever been a part of.
After graduation, Isabella plans to attend Ferris State University to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy or Social Work.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlights – Adriana Garcia Rodriguez
Adriana Garcia Rodriguez, hosted by Jeanna and Nick Michalek, has brought warmth, energy, and courage to the Class of 2025 during her time as a foreign exchange student. She enjoys playing sports, spending time with her friends and loved ones, listening to music, and cherishing moments with her family. One of her favorite high school memories was the Washington, D.C. trip, where she had an unforgettable time exploring the city and sharing laughs with friends.
Adriana has been actively involved in volleyball, cheer, and softball, and she’s also made her mark in student leadership as vice president of the Student Council and a member of SAFE. Her favorite class has been Graphics, where she enjoys using her creativity to bring unique ideas to life through design. Of all her accomplishments, Adriana is most proud of the strength it took to leave her home country of Spain at just 16 years old to begin a new chapter on a different continent, in a new language, and with new people.
After this year, Adriana plans to return to Spain to complete her senior year and then continue on to college.

Kyley Kay Fuller, daughter of Jerry and Nadine Fuller and the late Brad Fisher, is an adventurous and compassionate member of the class of 2025. Her favorite hobbies—fishing, hunting, swimming, playing sports, and spending time with friends—reflect her love for the outdoors and her energetic spirit.
One of Kyley’s favorite high school memories is dressing up as the Lorax with Calista for Halloween 2023, a moment full of laughter and creativity. Throughout her years at ECS, she has been deeply involved in a wide variety of activities, including Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Track, SAFE, Model UN, Big/Little Buddies, NHS, Class Committee, Quiz Bowl, and YAC—demonstrating her commitment to both academics and community.
Kyley’s favorite subject is English, a class she enjoys for its independence and the opportunity to dive into different stories and ideas. A passionate reader, she finds joy in exploring the written word at her own pace. Among her proudest accomplishments are the two mission trips she has taken, where she had the opportunity to support and serve communities in need—experiences that deeply shaped her outlook on life and service.
After graduation, Kyley plans to attend Michigan State University to major in Psychology, where she hopes to continue helping others and making an impact.

Landon Jacob Clees, son of Jon and Christina Clees, is a hands-on and humorous member of the class of 2025. He enjoys spending time fixing his four-wheeler, a hobby that reflects both his mechanical skill and his love for getting his hands dirty.
One of Landon’s favorite high school memories is attending the small engine class—a place where he’s been able to learn, explore, and build confidence in a trade he genuinely enjoys. At ECS, Landon has been a member of the basketball team and is especially fond of lunch, where he’s known for his lighthearted goal of getting people to say “chicken nuggets.”
Landon’s proudest achievement is his pursuit of a Small Engine Certification, a step he plans to continue after graduation by going to college and further developing his technical skills.

Brooklyn Mae Swenson, daughter of Tracy and Lisa Swenson, is a determined and upbeat member of the class of 2025. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and going to the gym—activities that keep her grounded and energized.
One of Brooklyn’s favorite high school memories is making random podcasts and skits in Tech Apps class, where creativity and laughter were always part of the process. At ECS, she’s been involved in SAFE and YAC, two organizations that have allowed her to connect with others and give back to the community.
Her favorite subject is Government and Economics—not just for the content, but because “it is never a boring time in Mrs. V’s room.” Brooklyn credits her success in high school to staying focused and setting clear academic goals, and she’s most proud of achieving every one of them.
After graduation, Brooklyn plans to attend Ferris State University to pursue a degree in Dental Hygiene, continuing her commitment to helping others with confidence and care.

Haylie Lorraine Ingersoll, daughter of Kelli Seaney and Steven Ingersoll, is a vibrant member of the class of 2025. In her free time, Haylie loves riding bikes, going for walks, painting, taking pictures, hanging out with friends, traveling, listening to music, and simply living life to the fullest.
Haylie’s favorite high school memory took place during the Washington, D.C. trip. At the last minute, she chose to explore the Botanic Garden instead of the art museum. There, she experienced an incredible variety of biomes, including a desert and a rainforest—all in one afternoon! Though the humidity left her hair fuzzy, Haylie cherishes the fun and spontaneity of that day.
At ECS, Haylie participates in Graphics, creating T-shirts, banners, and signs. The class operates like a small business, allowing students to use their creativity and imagination while bringing in revenue to upgrade their program. It’s no surprise that Graphics is her favorite subject—she enjoys being treated like an adult and having the freedom to think creatively.
Haylie is most proud to be graduating high school with the unwavering support of so many people. Looking ahead, she plans to join the Navy, but if that path doesn’t work out, she will head straight into the workforce.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlight- Ella Grace VanderArk
Ella Grace VanderArk, daughter of Kim and Brad VanderArk, is an artful member of the class of 2025. Her hobbies include painting, writing, watching The Simpsons, and collecting small objects—pursuits that spark her imagination and fuel her artistic endeavors.
One of Ella’s favorite high school memories is driving to a SAFE meeting in Kyley’s barely-running car with five other friends, then meeting at the Belvedere afterward to all drive back together. She cherishes the laughter and excitement of that spontaneous adventure. At ECS, Ella has participated in SAFE and Quiz Bowl, activities that have expanded her horizons both socially and academically.
Ella’s favorite subject is English, largely because the books she’s read in class have been eye-opening and impactful. Among her proudest achievements is the body of artwork she has created over the years, a testament to her creativity and dedication to self-expression.
After graduation, Ella plans to attend Central Michigan University to pursue a degree in Secondary Education, focusing on either Social Studies or English. Additionally, she intends to obtain her cosmetology license during the summer, giving her another avenue to practice and hone her craft.

Class of 2025 Senior Spotlight - Maxx Seese
Maxx Seese, son of Jennifer and Matt Seese, is a determined member of the class of 2025. When not in class, Maxx can often be found fishing, a pastime that allows him to enjoy the outdoors and clear his mind.
Though Maxx doesn’t single out one specific favorite memory from high school, he values the moments and lessons he’s gathered over the years. He has proudly represented ECS on the baseball team. Maxx’s favorite subject is History, even if he doesn’t have a particular reason—he simply finds the stories of the past intriguing. One of his proudest achievements is defeating his younger brother in a Fortnite 1v1, a win that’s become something of a family legend.
After graduation, Maxx plans to go into construction, a field that will allow him to build on his practical skills and passion for hands-on work.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are from 4-7pm on Thursday, March 13, and from noon-3pm on Friday, March 14. Elementary conferences are scheduled in advance and take place in individual teacher's classrooms and Middle/High conferences (grades 6-12) are not pre-scheduled and take place in the Middle/High School Cafeteria and Library.

Jaquenji Rotche Gibson, daughter of Stephanie Ann Gibson and Eric Erving, is a creative member of the class of 2025. When she’s not in class, Jaquenji loves sewing, crocheting, practicing art, coding, styling hair, playing games, exploring true crime stories, spending time with friends, and training her pets.
Reflecting on her time at ECS, Jaquenji’s favorite memory is the Washington D.C. trip, which marked her first time flying out of state. She fondly recalls the freedom that came with traveling, as well as the chance to learn more about her classmates and teachers in a completely different environment. Jaquenji hopes that future classes will also have the opportunity to embark on that meaningful experience.
A dedicated student, Jaquenji participates in Graphics, a class that has evolved significantly this year. She appreciates how the new equipment and advanced projects push her to grow creatively. Among her proudest achievements is maintaining a spot on the Honor Roll and seeing her hard work in Graphics brought to life through custom shirts, stickers, and cups for classmates and staff. Witnessing others enjoy her creations is a source of pride and motivation.
Looking ahead, Jaquenji plans to attend college, though she’s still weighing her options. Wherever she decides to go, she’s excited to continue expanding her skills and creativity.

Troy Allen Richards, son of Daryl and Denise Richards, is an adventurous member of the class of 2025. When he isn’t at school, Troy enjoys cooking, gaming, and watching YouTube.
Troy’s favorite memory from high school is attending Prom. He has proudly represented ECS on the football team. Troy’s favorite class is Agriscience, reflecting his appreciation for hands-on learning and real-world applications. Among his proudest personal achievements is buying a car, a milestone that showcases his drive and independence.
After graduation, Troy plans to work all summer, then enroll at Northwestern Michigan College (NMC).

Calista Joy Hoeksema, daughter of Ryan and Kris Hoeksema, is the salutatorian of the class of 2025. In her free time, Calista enjoys playing softball, practicing the trombone, volunteering at summer camp, reading, and painting.
Calista’s favorite memory from high school is hitting a home run at the softball district game during her sophomore year. Throughout high school, she has contributed to a variety of teams and organizations: Volleyball, Softball, Quiz Bowl, Model UN, Band, NHS (serving as President), YAC (including the leadership committee), Big/Little Buddies Program, SAFE, and Class Committee (as Treasurer).
Calista’s favorite subject at ECS is English because she loves the creativity inherent in reading and writing, and it allows her to learn while expressing herself. One of her proudest achievements is being accepted into the Lions of Michigan All-State Band, which took her all the way to Melbourne, Australia, where she had the honor of performing in the Parade of Nations.
After graduation, Calista plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University to pursue a degree in teaching, with the goal of becoming an English teacher.
